According to preliminary estimates, Fox’s Epic Movie took the top spot on Friday with $6.66M million in its first day of release.
Other new entries in the top 10 were Universal’s Smokin’ Aces at number two with $4.96M and Sony’s Catch and Release at number three with $2.72M

Rounding out the top five were Night at the Museum at fourth place with $2.19M ($209.49M through 36 days in release) and Stomp the Yard at number five with $2.10M ($44.95M through 15 days in release).

Epic Movie had the best per-theater average of any movie in the top 10 with $2,378/per theater out of 2,801 sites.

Blood And Chocolate, which opened in only 1,200 theaters, was way back and out of the top 10 managing only $690,000 on Friday.
