CBS’s returing line-up keeps the network ahead among all main categories, including a surprise win among adults 18-49. The series premiere of Rules of Engagement gets off to a very strong start. Week 3 of Heroes vs. 24 goes to Heroes (also the nights highest rated show among adults 18-49), while CSI: Miami is the nights most watched and highest rated program.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with a 9.6/15 household rating, 14.93 million total viewers and a 5.0/12 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 PM and 8:30 p.m.: How I Met Your Mother (6.9/10 HH rating, 10.78M viewers, 3.9/10 A18-49 rating) and The Class (6.2/9 HH rating, 9.72M viewers, 3.6/9 A18-49 rating) came back to strong results after a short hiatus, perhaps helped by advertising by the network during the Super Bowl. The hour was up 1.09M viewers, 14% among households and 12% among adults 18-49.

  • 9:00 PM and 9:30 p.m.: Two and a Half Men (11.3/16 HH rating, 17.77M viewers, 5.8/13 A18-49 rating) was followed by the series premiere of Rules of Engagement (9.8/14 HH rating, 14.89M viewers, 5.2/12 A18-49 rating). This was yet another strong hour for CBS with Two and a Half Men jumping up 1.92M viewers, 13% among households and 21% among adults 18-49. More importantly for CBS, however, was the great start to the new series Rules of Engagment. Retention was a very positive 84% among total viewers, 87% among households and most impressively 90% among adults 18-49.

  • 10:00 p.m.: CBS then ended the evening with a CSI: Miami (11.8/19 HH rating, 18.20M viewers, 5.7/14 A18-49 rating) as the nights highest rated and most watched program. It was slightly down from its last newly aired episode (interestingly, the only time-period for CBS to be down) but was still very strong.

NBC followed in second place for the evening with a 8.0/12 household rating, 13.02 million total viewers, and a 4.8/12 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: Deal or No Deal (10.6/15 HH rating, 17.33M viewers, 5.0/12 A18-49 rating) was slightly up from the week prior, to lead NBC for a time-period win for the hour. It was also NBC’s highest rated program of the night among households and viewers.

  • 9:00 p.m.: Heroes (8.6/12 HH rating, 14.56M viewers, 6.4/15 A18-49 rating) was up nearly 1M viewers (990,000), 4% among households and 11% among adults 18-49, as it moved past 24 among households and viewers for the second time since its return.

  • 10:00 p.m.: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (4.6/7 HH rating, 7.18M viewers, 3.2/8 A18-49 rating) benefited from a stronger lead-in, but was still very weak with retention of only 49% among total viewers, 53% among households and 50% among adults 18-49.

      • A18-49 – 3.0/8 to 3.2/8

Fox finished in third place for the evening with a 7.3/11 household rating, 11.98 million total viewers, and a 4.8/12 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: Prison Break (6.0/9 HH rating, 10.14M viewers, 4.1/10 A18-49 rating) was on par with its performance last week among households and adults 18-49, while creeping over the 10M mark for another solid performance.

  • 9:00 p.m.: 24 (8.1/12 HH rating, 13.58M viewers, 5.0/11 A18-49 rating) dipped down slightly (in the single digits), having to settle for second place against NBC hit Heroes.

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 5.1/8 household rating, 7.48 million total viewers and a 3.1/8 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: Wife Swap (5.4/8 HH rating, 8.40M viewers, 3.5/9 A18-49 rating) keeping with what appears to be a trend on the evening, Wife Swap was up slightly among viewers and adults 18-49.

      • Households – 5.5/8 to 5.4/8
      • Viewers – 7.99M to 8.40M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/8 to 3.5/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: Supernanny (6.3/9 HH rating, 9.55M viewers, 3.8/9 A18-49 rating) gave another solid performance as it grew 1.15M viewers, 17% among households and 9% among adults 18-49 from its lead-in.

  • 10:00 p.m.: ABC chose to air, in place of What About Brian, the special In Style Celebrity Weddings (4.4/7 HH rating, 5.60M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating) and the results were actually a weaker performance compared to last week’s What About Brian.

      • Households – 4.0/6 to 4.4/7
      • Viewers – 5.71M to 5.60M

The CW was left for a fifth place finish with a 1.9/3 household rating, 2.82 million total viewers and a 1.2/3 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 and 8:30 p.m.: New episodes of Everybody Hates Chris (2.1/3 HH rating, 3.15M viewers, 1.2/3 A18-49 rating) and All of Us (1.8/3 HH rating, 2.74M viewers, 1.1/3 A18-49 rating) were also up a tad, with Everybody Hates Chris performing the best for the CW as it reached and surpassed the 3M mark.

  • 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.: Girlfriends (1.8/3 HH rating, 2.72M viewers, 1.2/3 A18-49 rating) and The Game (1.7/2 HH rating, 2.66M viewers, 1.2/3 A18-49 rating) were also up to more respectable, but still poor, numbers.
