Weekend Box Office — August 3-5, 2007 August 6, 2007

Universal’s The Bourne Ultimatum made a killing at the box office over the weekend, raking in an impressive $69.28 million from 3,660 theaters, well ahead of the prior films in the trilogy. The Simpsons Movie, meanwhile, did not hold up very well in its second weekend, dropping off by 66.1% as it took in $25.11 million from an expanded 3,926 theaters (+4), pushing its domestic total to $128.06 million through 10 days of release.

Year-to-year, the box office continues to perform very well, as the top 10 was up by 35.4%

“Highlander: The Source” Going Straight To TV August 6, 2007

The long in development (and troubled) Highlander: The Source is finally getting a release, but the film is skipping theaters and the DVD market and going straight to TV, hitting SCI FI as a TV movie this coming September.

“Gossip Girl” Premiere Pushed Up A Week August 6, 2007

The CW has announced plans that they are pushing up the premiere of their new drama, Gossip Girls by one week to September 19th.

CBS took first place on the night among households and viewers, but thanks to a strong performance from four repeat episodes of Family Guy, Fox took first on the night among adults 18-49.
