Sony has released the teaser trailer for the next James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. The trailer will also be attached to this week’s Hancock. And as expected, it looks awesome. Check it out below and tell me what you think in the comments.
Quantum of Solace hits theaters on November 7, 2008. You can watch the trailer in High Definition at Moviefone.
Synopsis
A devastating betrayal sends James Bond from Australia to Italy and South America on a mission of vengeance that pits the suave super-spy against a powerful businessman with diabolical intentions. Betrayed by Vesper, 007 (Daniel Craig) suppresses the urge to make his latest mission personal as he teams with M (Judi Dench) to interrogate Mr. White (Jesper Christensen). It soon becomes apparent that the organization behind the blackmailing of Vesper is more powerful than Bond and M had previously anticipated, and after discovering forensic evidence that links an MI6 traitor to a bank in Haiti, Bond immediately sets out to gather more intelligence.
Once in Haiti, a case of mistaken identity leads Bond into the company of the ravishing Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a dangerous beauty with her own vendetta. It’s Camille who leads Bond to a ruthless businessman named Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), who is soon revealed to be the mastermind of a powerful but clandestine organization. Greene is conspiring to corner the market on one of the world’s most precious natural resources, and in order to make that happen he has forged a deal with an exiled general named Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). By enlisting the aid of his many associates and using his vast resources to force contacts within the CIA and the British government into bending to his will, Greene plans to overthrow the current regime of a Latin American country and hand control over to General Medrano in exchange for a parcel of land that appears barren on the surface, but actually houses a natural resource that will make Greene the most powerful man on the planet. But Bond’s mission to uncover the culprit who blackmailed Vesper and prevent Dominic Greene from exerting his will on the entire world won’t be easy, because now everyone from the CIA to the terrorists and even M are out to get him.

According to reports, BBC is rumored to be offering Tennant a new contract worth £1.3 million, or about £100,000 per episode (about $2.6M or a shade under $200,000/episode) to carry on as Doctor Who. Today the site recorded its 1,000,000th visit (3:25am on Sunday, June 29, 2008). Not bad eh? I don’t usually celebrate things like this, but I figured, what the heck. It only happens once right?
I started the site back in September of 2006 mainly as a way for me to jot down my thoughts on broadcast TV ratings, and to occasionally throw in articles and what not on movies, television and other miscellaneous things that interest me. I never envisioned it to become in anyway popular, so you can’t imagine how pleased I am that it’s been so successful.
I thank you all for the visits, comments and e-mails. I plan to grow the site, adding more reviews, giveaways and original content. I hope you continue to frequent the site as I grow.
Thanks again,
Russ

“Star Trek” Report June 27, 2008

Harry Knowles over at AICN is one lucky guy. Knowles was recently screened footage of Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek from none other than director J.J. Abrams. Here’s a highlight (spoilers follow):
He showed me a scene of Ben Cross (Sarek) & Winona Ryder (Amanda Grayson) cradling a baby Spock on the surface of Vulcan. A baby with Spock ears is kind of amazing to look at. But there was no dialogue here, and Vulcan wasn’t really there yet – what was there was a great rock formation that kinda reminded me of that wonky mountain/cliff thing from ARENA / BILL & TED. That said, it wasn’t the ARENA formation – and JJ said that zero effects had been done on this yet – so the lighting wasn’t right, the sky wasn’t right and there were no angry volcano type things or structures in the background, but he assured me… it’ll all look very Vulcan when it is done.
More highlights follow after the jump, or if you like, just head here to read Harry’s complete report.

Had some great news today about the American version of The Office.
Steve Carell (now one of the most bankable film stars in the world) has just signed up for another three years with us. He is the hardest working man in Hollywood and the harder he works the better it is for me. I mean… well done Steve you are wonderful.
