Deal or No Deal powers NBC to first place for the evening among viewers and households, and tied for first among adults 18-49 with Fox. The New Adventures of Old Christine struggles in new time slot.

NBC finished in first place for the evening with a 8.0/13 household rating, 13.36 million viewers and tied for first among adults 18-49 with a 4.0/11 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 8.0/13 HH rating [#2]
    • 13.42M viewers [#1]
    • 5.0/13 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.: A two-hour edition of Deal or No Deal (9.8/16 HH rating, 16.67M viewers, 4.7/13 A18-49 rating) propelled NBC to a ratings win last night. The two-hour program was on par with last week’s normal one-hour edition (just slightly down across the board). Comparing the show to include the hour of Heroes last week, we see that it held up well among households and viewers, but was down 22% among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. last week):
      • Households – 11.0/17 to 10.1/16
      • Viewers – 18.32M to 16.67M
      • A18-49 – 5.4/14 to 4.7/13
    • Week-to-week time slot numbers (vs. Deal or No Deal & Heroes):
      • Households – 9.7/15 to 10.1/16
      • Viewers – 16.61M to 16.67M
      • A18-49 – 6.0/15 to 4.7/13
  • 10:00 p.m.: The Black Donnelly’s (4.4/7 HH rating, 6.75M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating) seems to have leveled off, at least in terms of households and viewers, but dropping below the 7M mark and dipping an additional 13% among adults 18-49 does not bode well for the series.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.5/8 to 4.4/7
      • Viewers – 7.03M to 6.75M
      • A18-49 – 3.0/8 to 2.6/7

CBS finished in second place for the evening with a 7.5/12 household rating and 11.43 million viewers, but was third among adults 18-49 with a 3.7/10 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 8.1/13 HH rating [#1]
    • 12.21M viewers [#2]
    • 3.1/10 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 PM and 8:30 p.m.: Returning from hiatus, CBS aired two new episodes of The New Adventures of Old Christine (5.2/9 HH rating, 7.73M viewers, 2.5/8 A18-49 rating) & (5.5/9 HH rating, 8.35M viewers, 2.9/8 A18-49 rating) and the results were actually disappointing. It appears ‘Christine’ is in need of a strong lead-in for it to be successful. It was down 4.77M viewers, 36% among households and 34% among adults 18-49 from the last newly aired episode back in January. Even more disappointing was the fact that the show was unable to match normal time period occupants How I Met Your Mother and The Class faring worst among adults 18-49 (-740,000 viewers, -7% among households and -16% among adults 18-49).
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (Monday, 1/22/2007 at 9:30 p.m.)
      • Households – 8.3/12 to 5.3/9
      • Viewers – 12.81M to 8.04M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.1/9 to 2.7/8
    • Week-to-week time period numbers (How I Met Your Mother & The Class)
      • Households – 5.7/8 to 5.3/9
      • Viewers – 8.78M to 8.04M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/8 to 2.7/8
  • 9:00 PM and 9:30 p.m.: A repeat of Two and a Half Men (8.0/12 HH rating, 12.56M viewers, 4.3/11 A18-49 rating) was followed by a new Rules of Engagement (7.4/11 HH rating, 11.47M viewers, 4.3/11 A18-49 rating). ‘Rules‘ did very well despite airing out of a repeat, managing to hold on to 100% of its lead-ins A18-49 audience.
    • Week-to-week numbers (Rules of Engagement)
      • Households – 8.3/13 to 7.4/11
      • Viewers – 12.59M to 11.47M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.3/10 to 4.3/11
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of CSI: Miami (9.4/16 HH rating, 14.23M viewers, 4.2/11 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for CBS in its usual dominant first place position for the hour.

Fox finished in third place for the evening with a 6.9/11 household rating and 11.00 million viewers, but was tied for first place among adults 18-49 with a 4.0/11 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 6.9/10 HH rating [#3]
    • 11.37M viewers [#3]
    • 4.4/11 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of House (6.2/10 HH rating, 9.69M viewers, 3.5/10 A18-49 rating) managed to draw a respectable audience for a repeat, basically even from last week’s new episode of Prison Break and just slightly off among adults 18-49. A very solid performance, no doubt.
    • Week-to-week time slot numbers (vs. a New Prison Break):
      • Households – 6.0/9 to 6.2/10
      • Viewers – 9.73M to 9.69M
      • A18-49 – 3.9/11 to 3.5/10
  • 9:00 p.m.: Interestingly enough 24 (7.6/11 HH rating, 12.32M viewers, 4.5/11 A18-49 rating) was not able to make any sort of gain airing without competition from Heroes. It was down under 13M viewers again, and dipped across the board. Considering Deal or No Deal is a weaker performer than Heroes is among adults 18-49, the decline in that category is strange. I guess both shows (24 and Heroes) have different audiences. Regardless of the declines, this is a still a good, solid performance.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.9/12 to 7.6/11
      • Viewers – 13.01M to 12.32M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.9/12 to 4.5/11

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 4.3/7 household rating, 6.31 million viewers and a 2.6/7 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.1/8 HH rating [#4]
    • 7.47M viewers [#4]
    • 3.0/8 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Wife Swap (4.3/7 HH rating, 6.67M viewers, 2.6/8 A18-49 rating) started the evening off for ABC.
  • 9:00 p.m.: The season finale of Supernanny (5.0/8 HH rating, 7.46M viewers, 3.0/7 A18-49 rating) was down week-to-week as well as year-to-year (check numbers below). After a few very strong installments over the past few weeks, the show fizzled out some for its finale.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.4/10 to 5.0/8
      • Viewers – 9.55M to 7.46M
      • A18-49 – 3.8/9 to 3.0/7
    • Season finale comparison (4/24/2006)
      • Households – 5.5/8 to 5.0/8
      • Viewers – 8.57M to 7.46M
      • A18-49 – 3.4/8 to 3.0/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: What About Brian (3.4/6 HH rating, 4.80M viewers, 2.2/6 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for ABC in its now usual last place finish. About the only positive thing I could say would be that it stayed basically even from the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.5/6 to 3.4/6
      • Viewers – 4.79M to 4.80M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/6 to 2.2/6

The CW was left for a fifth place finish with a 1.4/2 household rating, 1.96 million viewers and a 0.8/2 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 1.3/2 HH rating [#5]
    • 1.92M viewers [#5]
    • 0.8/2 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • The CW programmed repeats for the entire evening and didn’t have many viewers watching.
  • 8:00 and 8:30 p.m.: Repeats of Everybody Hates Chris (1.6/3 HH rating, 2.35M viewers, 0.9/3 A18-49 rating) and All of Us (1.3/2 HH rating, 1.91M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.: Repeats of Girlfriends (1.2/2 HH rating, 1.68M viewers, 0.7/2 A18-49 rating) and The Game (1.4/2 HH rating, 1.88M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).
