ABC danced past its competition Monday night for an easy first place finish.

ABC finished in first place for the evening with a 10.4/17 household rating, 15.96 million viewers and a 4.9/13 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 10.8/17 HH rating [#1]
    • 16.80M viewers [#1]
    • 2.6/7 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00-10:02 p.m.: Dancing with the Stars (13.0/20 HH rating, 20.16M viewers, 5.8/15 A18-49 rating) remained a solid number one for the evening, despite some slight declines week-to-week. The show was number one among households, viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 13.7/21 to 13.0/20
      • Viewers – 21.65M to 20.16M
      • Adults 18-49 – 6.3/16 to 5.8/15
  • 10:02-11:00 p.m.: The season (and possibly series–the status of the show is still up in the air) finale of What About Brian (5.2/9 HH rating, 7.58M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) remained even from the week prior among households, grew very slightly among viewers and grew most among adults 18-49 (+7%) from the week prior. Retention out of ‘Dancing’ was again very weak, but overall performance was solid. If the show could maintain these ratings without the help of a ‘Dancing’ lead-in, it would be fine. I think a lot of the problem with the incredibly low retention rates among overall audience is that ‘Dancing’ skews much older that WAB. We’ll know by mid May at the latest on the future of this series.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.2/9 to 5.2/9
      • Viewers – 7.38M to 7.58M
      • A18-49 – 2.8/8 to 3.0/8

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 6.3/10 household rating, but was a much weaker fourth among viewers (9.30 million) and among adults 18-49 (3.0/8 rating).

  • Last Week:
    • 7.7/12 HH rating [#2]
    • 11.70M viewers [#2]
    • 3.9/10 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • CBS decided to air a completely repeat filled lineup, and was still able to manage a second place finish among households. The story was not the same though among viewers and adults 18-49, as the Eye managed only a fourth place finish in those two categories.
  • 8:00 PM and 8:30 p.m.: Repeats of How I Met Your Mother (4.0/7 HH rating, 5.80M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating) & The New Adventures of Old Christine (4.0/6 HH rating, 5.72M viewers, 2.2/6 A18-49 rating).
  • 9:00 PM and 9:30 p.m.: Repeats of Two and a Half Men (6.6/10 HH rating, 10.30M viewers, 3.5/9 A18-49 rating) was followed by Rules of Engagement (5.3/8 HH rating, 8.04M viewers, 3.0/7 A18-49 rating).
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of CSI: Miami (8.8/15 HH rating, 12.97M viewers, 3.7/10 A18-49 rating).

Fox finished in third place for the evening with a 6.2/9 household rating, but was a stronger second among viewers (9.92 million) and among adults 18-49 (4.0/10 rating).

  • Last Week:
    • 6.1/9 HH rating [#4]
    • 10.07M viewers [#4]
    • 4.0/10 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Prison Break (5.2/8 HH rating, 8.01M viewers, 3.3/9 A18-49 rating) took another slight dip week-to-week. The numbers were still solid, but they are off from the more usual 6 or so rating among households, upper 9M viewer range and upper 3, lower 4, rating among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.3/8 to 5.2/8
      • Viewers – 8.26M to 8.01M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.5/10 to 3.3/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: 24 (7.2/11 HH rating, 11.83M viewers, 4.7/11 A18-49 rating) stayed fairly even from the week prior.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.0/10 to 7.2/11
      • Viewers – 11.88M to 11.83M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.7/11 to 4.7/11

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 6.1/9 household rating, but was a stronger third among viewers (9.52 million) and among adults 18-49 (3.2/8 rating).

    • 11.32M viewers [#3]
    • 3.6/9 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Deal or No Deal (6.9/12 HH rating, 10.78M viewers, 3.1/9 A18-49 rating) started off the evening for NBC in a solid position.
  • 9:00 p.m.: That was followed by a new Deal or No Deal (7.6/12 HH rating, 12.11M viewers, 4.2/10 A18-49 rating) which though down from last week’s two hour episode among households and viewers, managed to hold steady among the key A18-49 demo.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. 8:00-10:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 8.7/14 to 7.6/12
      • Viewers – 14.05M to 12.11M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.2/11 to 4.2/10
  • 10:00 p.m.: The Black Donnelly’s (3.9/7 HH rating, 5.77M viewers, 2.3/8 A18-49 rating) took another slight dip week-to-week. It doesn’t seem like there is much hope for this freshman drama.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.6/9 to 3.9/7
      • Viewers – 5.83M to 5.77M

Make no mistake though, these are not good numbers. They are in fact well down from what the two shows averaged last season on UPN.

      • Viewers – 2.66M to 2.73M

Prison Break is currently the show with the best story on television currently. I don’t know wyh it had only 8.01 million viewers but it will drastically improve to the 10 millions range next week with their Season Finale “Sona”

I hear ya, Bryan. There are certainly a few moments in the series that irritate me to no end (mostly the character of T-Bag), but overall its a solidly entertaining hour of television.
