On the strength of the nights top rated programs in households and viewers (“Dancing with the Stars”) and adults 18-49 (“Lost”) ABC won the evening.


ABC finished in first place for the evening with a 9.7/15 HH rating (15.10M viewers) and a 5.1/13 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 9.0/14 HH rating [#2]
    • 14.00M viewers [#2]
    • 4.7/13 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Dancing with the Stars: Results Show” (13.8/21 HH rating, 20.64M viewers, 5.2/15 A18-49 rating) grew its audience from last week and was once again the nights top rated program in households and viewers.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 12.8/20 to 13.8/21
      • Viewers – 19.21M to 20.64M
      • A18-49 – 4.9/13 to 5.2/15
  • At 9:00 PM, “Lost” (10.4/16 HH rating, 17.10M viewers, 7.0/17 A18-49 rating) showed a nice gain for its “fall finale”, and finished its first run with a high on the night in adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 9.8/15 to 10.4/16
      • Viewers – 16.12M to 17.10M
      • A18-49 – 6.6/16 to 7.0/17
  • At 10:00 PM, “The Nine” (5.1/9 HH rating, 7.57M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) rebounded some from last week’s season low but still struggled with retaining its large lead-in.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.6/8 to 5.1/9
      • Viewers – 6.68M to 7.57M
      • A18-49 – 2.6/7 to 3.0/8

CBS followed in second place with a 9.4/15 HH rating (14.67M viewers), and a 4.5/12 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 9.1/14 HH rating [#1]
    • 14.39M viewers [#1]
    • 4.4/12 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Jericho” (6.2/9 HH rating, 9.79M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) stayed even but is down about 1M viewers from two episodes (the last time the show was above 10M viewers).
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 6.1/9 to 6.1/9
      • Viewers – 9.96M to 9.79M
      • A18-49 – 3.1/8 to 3.0/8
  • At 9:00 PM, “Criminal Minds” (11.2/17 HH rating, 17.54M viewers, 5.1/12 A18-49 rating) showed another great improvement surpassing the fall finale of “Lost” in households and viewers.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 10.7/16 to 11.2/17
      • Viewers – 16.74M to 17.54
      • A18-49 – 4.9/12 to 5.1/12
  • At 10:00 PM, “CSI: NY” (10.9/19 HH rating, 16.69M viewers, 5.4/15 A18-49 rating) showed good consistency from the week prior improving in all categories and actually improving upon its lead-in by about 6%.
    • Week to Week Numbers:
      • Households – 10.6/18 to 10.9/19
      • Viewers – 16.48M to 16.69M
      • A18-49 – 5.3/15 to 5.4/15

NBC finished in third place with a 4.9/8 HH rating (7.56M viewers), and a 3.0/8 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 4.4/7 HH rating [#3]
    • 6.50M viewers [#3]
    • 2.6/7 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, “The Biggest Loser” (4.6/7 HH rating, 7.30M viewers, 3.1/8 A18-49 rating) filled in nicely for the relocated “30 Rock” and shelved “Twenty Good Years”.
  • At 10:00 PM, “Dateline NBC” (5.6/10 HH rating, 8.07M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) was once again NBC’s top show for the evening in alll categories.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 5.2/9 to 5.6/9
      • Viewers – 7.12M to 8.07
      • A18-49 -2.7/8 to 3.0/8

FOX followed in fourth for the evening with a 3.6/5 HH rating (5.53M viewers) and a 2.2/5 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 3.7/6 HH rating [#4]
    • 5.76M viewers [#4]
    • 2.1/5 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Bones” (4.8/7 HH rating, 7.53M viewers, 2.8/7 A18-49) improved a smidgen from its return from hiatus last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.7/7 to 4.8/7
      • Viewers – 7.38M to 7.53M
      • A18-49 – 2.7/7 to 2.8/7
  • At 9:00 PM, “The O.C.” (2.5/4 HH rating, 3.53M viewers, 1.5/4 A18-49) actually did not perform as well as the failed “The Rich List” which was pulled after only one airing.  It seems, barring a miracle, “The O.C.” is all but over.
    • Week-to-week numbers for the timeslot (“The Rich List”):
      • Households – 2.8/4 to 2.5/4
      • Viewers – 4.14M to 3.53M
      • A18-49 – 1.5/4 to 1.5/4

The CW finished in fifth for the evening delivering a 2.9/4 HH rating (4.45M viewers) and a 2.1/5 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Number’s:
    • 2.3/4 HH rating [#5]
    • 3.46M viewers [#5]
    • 1.6/4 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • At 8:00 PM, “America’s Next Top Model” (3.5/6 HH rating, 5.39M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating) after suffering a pretty substantial loss last week, the program was back to its usual numbers. It was pretty much even with its numbers from two episodes ago (3.7/6 HH, 2.7/8 A18-49, 5.48M viewers).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 2.9/5 to 3.5/6
      • Viewers – 4.42M to 5.39M
      • A18-49 – 2.1/6 to 2.6/7
  • At 9:00 PM, “One Tree Hill” (2.3/4 HH rating, 3.52M viewers, 1.5/4 A18-49 rating) did about as much as should be expected from a repeat on The CW.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (October 25, 2006 – Finals):
      • Households – 2.4/4 to 2.3/4
      • Viewers – 3.67M to 3.52M
      • A18-49 – 1.6/4 to 1.5/4
